Obituary of Gary A. Nelson

Gary Allan Nelson, age 64, of Wisconsin Rapids, passed away on January 20, 2016 at Strawberry Lane Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, January 23, 2016 at Herman-Taylor Funeral Home in Wisconsin Rapids. Rev. Jonathan Jenks will officiate. Visitation will be held from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. on Friday, January 22, 2016 at Herman-Taylor Funeral Home and again on Saturday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service at the funeral home. Gary was born on August 20, 1951 to Duane and Carmen (Runnels) Nelson in Stevens Point. He married Linda Keenlance on September 30, 1972 at St. Paul's Catholic Church. Gary was a fork lift mechanic for various businesses in Central Wisconsin over the years. He was a member of the Grand Rapids Fire Department for 9 years. Gary was a kind and loving husband, father and grandfather. He truly loved spending quality time with his family. Gary was a talented mechanic whose favorite pastime was working on cars. In his younger years Gary enjoyed racing cars. He liked going to Golden Sands Speedway and watching races. Gary liked going hunting and fishing. He was an avid Green Bay Packer fan. Gary is survived by his wife Linda, children: Mary (Tom) Worlund, Tamara (Tony) Dahlberg and Christopher (Pamela Sankey); grandchildren: Mason Worlund, Tyson, Ryler, Kaylee and Emelyn Dahlberg; 4 brothers-in-law and 3 sisters-in-law. He was preceded in death by his parents.
