Obituary of Sheldon Clinton Schulz

Sheldon Clinton Schulz, age 66, of Wisconsin Rapids, passed away unexpectedly on January 22, 2016 in Marshfield, WI. Services will be held at 11 A.M. on Tuesday, January 26, 2016 at St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Wisconsin Rapids. Rev. Timothy Wenger will officiate. Visitation will be held from 9:00 A.M. until the time of service at St. Luke's. Herman-Taylor Funeral Home is assisting the family. Sheldon was born on January 20, 1950 to Clinton and Ione (Vold) Schulz in International Falls, MN. Being diabetic from his youth, Sheldon lived each day to the fullest. He graduated from high school in Mankato, MN. Shortly after his high school graduation, he and his family moved to Wisconsin Rapids. He met and married Sheryl Hazell in 1975, and although the marriage would end, they were blessed with a son, Travis. Sheldon attended Lakeshore Technical College and graduated with a degree to be an optician. He and his son, Travis, traveled and spent a lot of time together. They enjoyed camping and just being with each other. Sheldon enjoyed escaping to Birchwood, WI, just to get away. He loved to be creative with woodworking. Sheldon found peace in the outdoors and was an avid hunter. He enjoyed being active and would often be found riding his bicycle. Sheldon retired in 1990 due to complications with diabetes. After retirement, he would begin each day at Cravings Coffee Shop, joining his group of friends for coffee and socializing. Sheldon was a GREAT father and grandfather. He is loved and will be missed. Sheldon is survived by his parents, Clinton and Ione Schulz; son, Travis Schulz; grandchildren: Makenzie, Athena, Logan, and Summer Dawn; siblings: Ross (Lisa) Schulz, Jerri (David) Haferman, Brian (JoAnne) Schulz, Jan (Jim) Brown, and Dean (Jody) Schulz; his first wife, Sheryl, and best friend and companion, his Labrador Mia.
