Obituary of Margaret Takako Tessmer
Margaret T. Tessmer, age 91, of Marshfield, formerly of Wisconsin Rapids, passed away on Wednesday February 10, 2016 at Ministry St. Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield.
Services will be 1:00 PM Saturday, February 13, 2016 at Herman-Taylor Funeral Home in Wisconsin Rapids. Entombment will be at the Forest Hill Mausoleum. Visitation will be held from 11:30 until the time of services at the funeral home on Saturday.
Margaret Takako Fuse was born December 13, 1924 Sendai, Japan to Yoji and Kimiko (Fuse) Suzuki. She met Donald H. Tessmer when he was stationed in Japan during the Korean War. The couple fell in love and were united in marriage on June 6, 1951 in Tokyo, Japan. They were blessed with 44 years of marriage and the birth of a son, Michael. Donald died on November 2, 1995.
Margaret was employed as a cook at Riverview Hospital in Wisconsin Rapids for many years until her retirement.
Margaret was a longtime member of the First Congregational-United Church of Christ church in Wisconsin Rapids. She was a very loving mother and grandmother who lived for her grandchildren. Margaret enjoyed camping and fishing with her husband Don and was an avid Green Bay Packer fan. She was a very talented seamstress who handmade a lot of her own clothing and also enjoyed knitting and crocheting. Margaret always looked forward to trips back to Japan to see her family.
Margaret is survived by one son, Michael (Patti) Tessmer of Hewitt; two grandchildren: Matthew Tessmer of Minneapolis and Nicole Tessmer of Marshfield; three sisters: Teruko, Michiko and Yuko and a brother, Zenzo all of Japan. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers Akira and Wataru.
