Obituary of Albert Clyde Ross
Albert Clyde Ross Sr., age 83, passed away on Wednesday, February 24, 2016 at Houghton County Medical Facility in Hancock, MI.
Clyde was born in Alston, MI on May 18, 1932 to Albert and Marie Ross. He joined the United States Army and served for several years. Clyde married Doris M. Bulgrin and although the marriage ended in divorce they were blessed with six children. Clyde later married Marilyn Pierce on November 25, 1971; the couple made their home in Mass City, MI. After returning home from the Army, Clyde started working construction operating heavy equipment. He was a member of the Operator Engineers Local Union #324 for 40 years. Clyde was a highly skilled bulldozer operator. He was employed by Turpeinen Brothers Inc., Pestka Construction, and Dishaw's Construction over many years. He along with his wife Marilyn owned and operated Ross's Clothing Store in Mass City, MI for 21 years.
Clyde was an avid NASCAR fan and shared this passion with his children. He liked spending time outdoors and loved to camp and go deer hunting. He enjoyed watching baseball and football especially the Detroit Lions. Clyde was a good man who enjoyed spending time with his family. He truly took pride and enjoyed working with his "dozer". For many years Clyde enjoyed hopping on his scooter to meet his pals at the local filling station where they would discuss Mass City issues, enjoy a good cup of coffee and each other's company, he also enjoyed wandering over to Pat's Motorsports to visit his son-in-law and watch him wrench.
Clyde is survived by his wife Marilyn, 5 children: LaVerne Pestka, Carol Howe, Julie Gessert, Laurie (Jeff) Pollard and Glenn Ross; siblings: Norman Ross, Arthur (Karen) Ross, Larry (Van) Ross, Jean (Waldo) Savela and Donna (Robert) Store; step-children: Sandy (Mike) Coffee, Patrice (Larry) SisLer, Greg (Renea) Tarnowski, Debbie Tarnowski as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, son Albert Clyde Ross Jr., granddaughter Alicia Sullivan; sisters Alice Cobb, Betty Wright and Joy Lundin.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
