Obituary of Donna M. Galuk

Donna M. Galuk, age 83, of Wisconsin Rapids, died Saturday, February 27, 2016 at Edgewater Haven Nursing Home in Port Edwards, Wisconsin. Donna was born June 6, 1932 in Menominee, MI to Rueben and Daisy Duerwachter. She married Peter Galuk on December 18, 1954 in Barrington, IL. Donna was an excellent homemaker and enjoyed cooking, baking and sewing. She cherished spending time with her family, especially around the holidays. She was a very generous person, donating her time as a Girl Scout leader through the years. She was a loving and devoted mother and was the glue that held the family together. Her strong Catholic faith was very important to her and helped to raise and guide her children through their youth. She loved to spend time at the family cabin in northern Minnesota with her husband, sitting on the deck watching the waves and sunsets. In her spare time she also enjoyed bird watching. Donna enjoyed taking several vacations with her husband to Texas and Florida. Donna is survived by her husband, Peter; five children: Diana Galuk, Deborah Galuk (Doug), Dawn Galuk (Mike), Doug (Lori) Galuk and Delinda (Sedrick) Hawkins. She is preceded in death by her parents, and two daughters: Darcy Galuk and Bonnie Sue Galuk. Services will be held later this spring in Montevideo, MN. The Peter and Donna Galuk family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the caregivers, nursing staff and residents of Edgewater Haven Nursing Home who displayed compassion and love during this last journey of Donna's.
