Obituary of David V. Wood

David V. Wood Sr., age 55, of Wisconsin Rapids, died Thursday, March 3, 2016 at Aspirus Riverview Hospital. A Celebration of David's Life will be held at 7:00 P.M. on Wednesday, March 9, 2016 at Herman-Taylor Funeral Home in Wisconsin Rapids. The family will greet relatives and friends from 4:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. on Wednesday at the funeral home. Online condolences may be expressed at www.taylorfuneralhome.net. David was born February 18, 1961 in Beloit, Wisconsin to William and Patsy (Brayton) Wood. He graduated from Pittsville High School in 1978. David was most recently employed as a mobile equipment operator at Verso Corporation in the Fiber and Energy Department. He spent 36 years in various positions at the mill. David was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing; especially walleye and musky fishing. He also loved sports and spent time coaching youth baseball and football. He was a fan of the Green Bay Packers and Milwaukee Brewers. David was a movie buff and loved to cook. His greatest joy was spending time with his family who he loved dearly. David is survived by five children: David Wood Jr. of Barneveld, WI, Jennifer Wood of St. Paul, MN, Maddie Wood of Wisconsin Rapids, Kayla Wood of Kenosha, WI, and Bradley (Heather) Wood of Wisconsin Rapids; mother, Patsy Grady of Beloit, WI; two brothers: Kris Wood and Reese Wood, both of Beloit, WI; and his significant other, Cherri Becker of Wisconsin Rapids. He was preceded in death by his father, William Wood.
