Obituary of Marilyn J. Rokus

Marilyn J. Rokus, 71, of Wisconsin Rapids, died Wednesday, March 23, 2016 at Aspirus Riverview Hospital. Marilyn was born December 16, 1944 in Wisconsin Rapids to Robert and Ila (Wegner) Rokus. She graduated from Lincoln High School in 1963 where she participated in the band and the dramatics club. After attending UW Stevens Point and Lakeland College, Marilyn worked for the Bullseye Credit Union and the Pittsville school system before taking a position with the FBI. After a year with the FBI in Washington, D.C., she transferred to the Milwaukee office where she worked until retiring after 30 years of service. In retirement, Marilyn resided in Wisconsin Rapids and served as a volunteer at a local food bank and at Riverview Hospital. Marilyn was a faithful member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church. Marilyn is survived by one sister, Marcia (Grant) Mauk of Santa Fe, NM, and six cousins, Barbara Miller, Russell (Jackie) Miller, and Elaine (Jack) Gill all of Wisconsin Rapids, David (Cheryl Whited) Vanderhei and Susan (Carl) Harwood of Tucson, AZ, and Sharon (Maurice) Moran of Raleigh, NC. She was preceded in death by her parents. Services will be at 1:30 P.M. on Thursday, March 31, 2016 at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Wisconsin Rapids. Rev. James Douglas will officiate. Burial will be at Forest Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:30 A.M. until the time of services on Thursday at the church. Herman-Taylor Funeral Home is serving the family. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church mortgage.
