Visitation will be on Saturday, April 2, 2016 from 11:00 AM until the time of service at the church. Herman-Taylor Funeral Home is serving the family. Online condolences may be expressed at www.taylorfuneralhome.net Lynn was born on July 18, 1925 in Stevens Point to Grant and Gladys (Fletcher) Langton. In 1943, Lynn enlisted in the United States Navy where he served his country honorably in the Pacific on a PB2Y flying boat that was used to evacuate wounded American soldiers and bringing them back to California and Hawaii during WWII. Lynn was the last surviving crew member of that squadron. Lynn met the love of his life Ellen Whittingham on a blind date while they were both attending University Wisconsin Stevens Point. The couple was married on May 22, 1948 in Eagle River, WI and were blessed with three children: Wanda, Dennis and Jerry. They lived in Wisconsin Rapids their entire married life. Ellen passed away on January 7, 2016. Lynn was a dedicated and faithful member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. Immanuel church and school were very important to Lynn, he served as the school board president, sang in the choir for 65 years, was a member of the Men's Club and was always willing to help in any capacity that they needed him. Ellen and Lynn helped his brother and sister build a campground on some family farmland in Plover; for almost 18 years family and friends would meet there during the warmer months to go camping and during the winter for campfires and cross country skiing. Upon Lynn's retirement, they spent 17 happy winters at Woodland's Lutheran Camp in Montverde, FL. Along with their new friends, they continued to volunteer and serve the community at every opportunity. They enjoyed serving dinners for conventions and parties and volunteered for the Salvation Army. Lynn and Ellen loved to travel all over the USA in their camping trailer, usually with good friends or family. Lynn was a real King Pin when it came to League bowling at Bowlmor Lanes in Wisconsin Rapids, on April 11, 1977 he had a 298 game (record score at the time) and a series of 798. Many people have been taken there to admire his photo that is still gracing the wall. May 2, 2011 was a monumental day in Lynn's life, he was given the opportunity to participate in the Honor Flight for veterans to Washington DC with his good friend Esley Schultz. He was astonished at how many people came to thank them everywhere they went that day and the welcome home event at the Central Wisconsin Airport was heartwarming and overwhelming. After that day he encouraged every veteran he met to take the Honor Flight because it was so different from the reception they received after WWII was over. Lynn is survived by his children: Wanda (Michael) Saeger of Rome, WI, and Dennis Langton of Wisconsin Rapids, WI; grandchildren: Jonathan (Lauren) Saeger of Macomb, IL and Paul Saeger of Davenport, IA; sister Lolita Engebretson and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Ellen, parents, son Jerry, brother Thomas and sister Joyce. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Immanuel Lutheran School, Immanuel Church Choir, Immanuel Organ Repair Fund, General Fund or the Woodlands Church in Montverde, FL. Lynn's family would like to the wonderful staff at Cranberry Court Assisted Living, Our House Assisted Living, Aspirus Riverview Hospital, Atrium Post Acute Care and Heartland Hospice for all of the compassion and care that was given to them during this time.
