Obituary of Gilbert Herman Pedersen
Gilbert "Gib" Herman Pedersen, age 84, of Sigel passed away peacefully Sunday morning April 10 at Edgewater Nursing home in Port Edwards.
Services will be at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, April 15, 2016 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Vesper. Pastor Doug Schalow will officiate. Burial will be at a later date at Forest Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Herman-Taylor Funeral Home in Wisconsin Rapids on Thursday, April 14, 2016 from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. and from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. on Friday at the church. Gib was born on October 7, 1931 in Sigel, WI to Anker and Dora (Yager) Pedersen. He attended Turner School until 8th grade and graduated from Rudolph High School. He began plastering at the age of 17 after learning the trade from his grandfather, Herman Yager. He then joined the Army during the Korean War from 1953-1955. Gib married Doris Sandman April 16, 1955. She preceded him in death in1993. Gib married Shirley Reiman October 13, 1995. Gib owned his own plastering business, "Pedersen Plastering" for 45 years.
He is survived by his 3 children, Melvin (Sherry) Pedersen of Wisconsin Rapids, Pam (Paul) Kubisiak of Wisconsin Rapids, and Shelby (Glenn) Minch of Green Bay; grandchildren: Riley (Jes) Kubisiak of Appleton, WI, Stacey Kubisiak (Seth Thome) of Wisconsin Rapids, Kyle Pedersen (Teresa Kurth) of San Diego, CA, Keith Pedersen of Charlotte, NC, Angela Minch (Jeremy Schiessl) of LaCrosse, WI, Josh Minch of Oceanside, CA, Sam Minch of River Falls, WI and Matthew Minch of Green Bay; great- granddaughter Nora Thome; sisters, Elaine Cline of Fall Creek, WI, Ruth (Terry) Cooper of Burgess, VA, Janet (Jim) Grimm of Wisconsin Rapids, and Nancy (Bill) Bean of Vesper; wife, Shirley Pedersen of Vesper and his wife's children; Brenda (Jim) Dupree of Vesper, Mark (Sue) Bauman of Bloomer and Valerie Bradley (Jerry Malinowski) of Wisconsin Rapids. He was preceded in death by his parents, Anker and Dora Pedersen, his first wife, Doris Pedersen, and his brother- in-law Miles Cline.
Gib loved spending time with his all of his grandkids and great granddaughter. He was proud of his son and grandsons in the military. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, roller skating, bowling, and telling jokes and stories. He liked socializing at Winch's and JoJo's in Vesper. His favorite pastimes were being outdoors, making birdhouses, feeding the birds, and being a weather prognosticator.
