Obituary of David Daniel Timm

David D. Timm, 76, formerly of West Allis, died Tuesday, October 25, 2016, under hospice care at Brookfield Rehabilitation and Specialty Care in Brookfield after a long struggle with congestive heart failure and COPD. He was born in the Town of Grant, Portage County, on August 3, 1940, to Daniel and Alice (Arndt) Timm. David graduated from Lincoln High School in Wisconsin Rapids in 1958. He earned his Bachelor's Degree in Education from Whitewater State University in 1962 and later earned his Master's Degree in Education Administration from the University of Wisconsin at Milwaukee. He taught sixth graders in the West Allis-West Milwaukee School District for 33 years until he retired in 1995. He was a past member of St. John Lutheran Church in Kellner (Town of Grant, Portage County) and was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in West Allis until the time of his death. His confirmation verse was "Be thou faithful until death and I will give thee the crown of life". He was also a member of WEAC (Unified WEAC-R and NEA-R) and WREA (Wisconsin Retired Educators' Association). David enjoyed spending time with family and friends, playing cards and taking bus trips to casinos. Survivors include one sister: Lois (Ronald) Rogney of Wisconsin Rapids; one brother: John (Lori) Timm of Irma; four nephews: Jay (Pam) Trumbower of Plymouth, Minnesota, Craig (Shana) Rogney of Waupaca, Jason Timm of Merrill and Matthew (Kelly) Timm of Fort Myers, Florida; four nieces: Tina Trumbower of Campbellsport, Carrie (Matt) Cesal of Eau Claire, Connie (Duane) Sherd of Wisconsin Rapids and Tracy Timm of Weston; seven great-nephews: Adam Trumbower, Tyler and Logan Rogney, Brian and Caleb Timm, Dillon Timm and Billie Sherd; four great-nieces: Jenna and Alyssa Trumbower, Trista Timm and Abby Sherd; along with many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister and brother-in-law (Delores and Wayne Trumbower) and a great-niece and great-nephew (Natalie and Alex Timm). A visitation will be held at Heritage Funeral Home, 16880 W. National Avenue, New Berlin, from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 30th followed by a prayer service at 2:00 p.m. A visitation will be held on Monday, October 31st at St. John Lutheran Church in Kellner from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 a.m., followed by burial in the St. John Lutheran Parish Cemetery. Herman-Taylor Funeral Home in Wisconsin Rapids is assisting the family. David's family members would like to express their thanks to the staff at Regency Assisted Living-New Berlin for his care the past three years and also to the staffs of VITAS Hospice and Brookfield Rehabilitation and Specialty Care for his care during the past few weeks. A memorial will be established by David's family at a later date.
