Obituary of Samuel G. Yeager
Samuel G. Yeager, 72, of Nekoosa, passed away Friday, March 27, 2020, at his residence, surrounded by his loving family.
Sam was born December 28th, 1947 in Wisconsin Rapids, WI to George and Loretta (Heuer) Yeager. He graduated from Lincoln High School as a member of the Class of 1966. Sam met his loving wife and soulmate, Anita, in junior high school in 1961, and they never parted, marrying on April 5th, 1967. They would have celebrated their 53rd Wedding Anniversary in the coming weeks.
Sam enlisted in the US Navy in 1967 to fulfill his duty to his country during the Vietnam conflict, serving 4 years aboard the USS Enterprise as an Electricians Mate. After returning from service, Sam enrolled in college courses at UWSP as part of the GI Bill before ultimately taking employment at Consolidated Papers-Biron Division, where he remained for 35 years before retiring in 2011.
Sam and Anita were blessed with 2 loving children, Andrew and Heather. He was a devoted father and husband, and forever an animal lover. He also enjoyed gardening, fishing, walking his dogs and being outdoors. Above all, his family was most important to him.
Sam is survived by his loving wife, Anita; his children: Andrew (Tricia) Yeager of Rosendale, WI, and Heather Yeager of Wisconsin Rapids, WI; and his grandchildren: Olivia and Benjamin Yeager of Rosendale, WI. Sam was also survived by his beloved dogs, Maggie and Sadie, and his grand-puppy Reilly.
Sam was preceded in death by his parents, George and Loretta Yeager of Nekoosa, WI, and his in-laws, Arthur and Zada (Marie) Oberbeck, originally of Wisconsin Rapids, WI., as well as many pets who were most certainly awaiting his arrival at the Rainbow Bridge.
Services will be private and will take place at a later date. A private inurnment will be at Forest Hill Cemetery in Wisconsin Rapids. In lieu of flowers, his family would ask that a donation be made to the South Wood County Humane Society in his name.
Additionally, his family would like to express their gratitude to the staffs at Marshfield Medical Center, Heartland Hospice Care, and Gary and his staff at United Medical Response Service for all of the support they have provided.
