Obituary of Janice Marie Ryman

Janice Marie Ryman, age 78, of Wisconsin Rapids, went to Heaven to be with her Lord on Tuesday, January 28, 2020, after a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by her loving family. Services will be at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, February 4, 2020 at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Wisconsin Rapids. Rev. Timothy Wenger will officiate. Burial will take place at Riverside Cemetery in Nekoosa. Visitation for family and friends will be Monday, February 3, 2020 from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at Herman-Taylor Funeral Home. Visitation will also take place on Tuesday, February 4, 2020 beginning at 10:00 A.M. at the church. Herman-Taylor Funeral Home is honored to be assisting Janice’s family. Online condolences may be expressed at www.taylorfuneralhome.net. Janice was born March 14, 1941 to Frank and Catherine (Wayerski) Piekarski in Junction City, WI. She married Donald Ryman on July 18, 1987 at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church. They were blessed with many wonderful memories together, until his death on November 15, 2019. Janice (and Donald) had a passion for decorating her (their) house for every season of the year, especially Christmas, as they were known as the house on Lake Avenue with all of the Christmas lights and decorations. She enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening. Janice worked at Kellner International Bar and Grille for many years. Above all, Janice cherished the time spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She is loved and will be deeply missed. Janice is survived by her children: James (Diane) Meddaugh, Michael (Kim) Meddaugh, Timothy (Lori Smith) Meddaugh, Daniel (Bonnie) Meddaugh, and Ronald (Kelly) Meddaugh; her step-daughter, Sally Ryman; her step-son, Steven (Erin) Ryman; her grandchildren: Ben, Zachary, Cody, Kylee, Brie, Samantha, Tyler, Mia, Caleb, Kaitlyn, and Neala; her great-grandchildren: Tilian, Cove, Matthew, Aspen, and Mason; her sister, Carol Alft; and her sister-in-law, Shirley Piekarski; she is further survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and close friend, Mark Ortscheid. In addition to her husband and parents, Janice is preceded in death by her son, William Meddaugh; her step-son, Donald A. Ryman; her sister, Muriel Fix; her brother, George Piekarski; and her brother-in-law, Jerry Alft. She is further preceded in death by her infant brothers, Francis Piekarski and Gordon Piekarski; and her infant sister, Rita Mae Piekarski. The family would like to acknowledge the staffs at Ascension St. Michael’s Hospital and Ascension Home Hospice for all of their help during this difficult time. A special thank you is expressed to Diane Meddaugh for all of the love and care given by her to Janice during these past several weeks.
