MaryJo, you probably don't recognize my name. I grew up across the street from Gary and my sister, Lori and Gary were classmates in school. You and I were also classmates in school and graduated from East.
We had a lot of fun playing with Gary when we were little. He was so much fun and I thought he always played so smart. I was certain that he was going to be a scientist when we grew up and I could learn from him. I was so jealous of Lori though because she got to be in his class at school. I was still jealous of her when he got a horse because she was forever horse crazy.
Maybe I was lucky and did get to learn something from my very smart childhood friend from across the street. Now I have a horse.
I am very sorry to hear about your loss. You and your family have my deepest sympathy.

Dr. Johnson was a kind and gentle person and the best vet anyone could ever hope for. Unfortunately, my horse Sundee passed away last year in 2018. Dr. Johnson helped me through this trying time. It is something I will never get over, but have just learned to live with. They are both together now. So sorry for the loss of a great person and my condolences to the family.

My deepest sympathy to Gary's family. He will truly be missed.we will miss all of his knowledge that he gives to all of customers and the way he would explain what our horses health issues were in a way that we could understand.he is a great person and am very saddened that he was taken from all of us.

MaryJo and Brandon,
I am very saddened to hear of Gary’s sickness and passing. He was my vet for right around 15 years. My last visit with Dr. Johnson was back in May. He did my last health inspection as we have sold all of our deer and had gotten out of the deer business. I had no idea he had cancer and was shocked to hear this terrible news. Gary was an outstanding veterinarian and an even better person! I will Cherish our many conversations through the years. Please except my deepest condolences!

Gary was what I would consider my friend and neighbor along with vet to all my creatures including my horses, dog and even my cats. He would go always the extra caring and time to reassure me during any situation with my animals. I lived just couple doors down from him and his family so I would be his final stop of his day for any non emergency appointments. So when he would arrive he was relaxed and always fun spirited knowing his next stop was home.
He was what I would consider THE BEST vet anyone could ever hope for in a lifetime! And he was always one to add his highly knowledgeable thoughts about how to proceed with what ever we were dealing with in a reassuring way so I could figure out what to do. I got Doc Gary out here couple times in emergencies very quickly as he lived just up the road. Last time was for my 150 lb old flock protector dog that needed sedating at 8 am on a Sunday morning and then to assist me in crossing over my heart horse Maverick to the Rainbow bridge.
He loved his son and MaryJO so very much and I can honestly say Gary was one of the most wonderful men we ever had the pleasure of knowing. Jane Jackan

"For the good of the horse."
This will be how we remember Dr. Johnson and his care, as this seemed to be his mantra. We can honor him best by keeping true to it. He did miracles every day and our horses are testament.
Yet, this is only a glimpse of the humanity and grace Dr. Johnson lived by; his care enfolded owners as well as patients. We have lost a great soul.
