Obituary of Beverly Ann Peterson

Beverly A. Peterson, 83, of Grand Rapids, WI passed away at home on Saturday, December 29, 2018 due to pulmonary hypertension. She also coped with chronic lymphocytic leukemia for 20 years.

A Life Celebration Service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, January 7, 2019 at Herman-Taylor Funeral Home in Wisconsin Rapids. Rev. Joshua Pegram will officiate. Inurnment will take place at Pioneer Cemetery. A time of visitation, for family and friends, will be held on Sunday, January 6, 2019 from 3:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M and again on Monday, January 7, 2019 from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the funeral service at the funeral home. Beverly was born January 3, 1935 in Crosby, MN, the oldest child of Walter and Minnie (Trierweiler) Olson. She graduated from Barnum High School (Barnum, MN) as a member of the Class of 1952. Beverly graduated from the St. Luke’s Hospital School of Nursing (Duluth, MN) in 1955. As a young girl, she was a member of the 4-H Club, enjoyed roller skating, ice skating, and swimming. Beverly helped on the family’s turkey farm. Her first job was picking strawberries for 10 cents a quart.

She married Allen Peterson in Barnum, MN on June 2, 1956. Beverly was employed as a registered nurse at many hospitals over 40 years, spending the last 11 years of her career at Riverview Hospital in Wisconsin Rapids. She retired in 1995. After her retirement, she developed an interest in genealogy, an interest she shared with her husband. They enjoyed visiting cemeteries, historical societies, and spending time on the internet searching for relatives. They also enjoyed attending concerts and attending plays during the summer and fall at the American Players Theater in Spring Green, WI. Beverly was a member of the Wisconsin Rapids United Methodist Church, participating in its UMW and Sara Circle. She hosted Friendship Bible Coffees in her home for several years. Beverly was a member of the River Cities Ya Ya Red Hats and the DAR, Ah Dah Wa Gam chapter. She was a member of the Riverview Hospital Auxiliary and volunteered for many years in the hospital’s Surgery/Outpatient department, as well as, delivering home meals. Beverly enjoyed reading, traveling, and spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Beverly is survived by her loving husband, Allen; her daughters: Cynthia (Charles) France of Madison, WI and Deborah (Mark) Bowman of Cheyenne, WY; her son, Bryan (Andrea) Peterson of DeForest, WI; her grandchildren: Rebekkah (Bryan) Nelson, Brett Bowman, Nathan France, and Alexis Peterson; she is further survived by her sister, Susan Buffin of Versailles, KY; her brothers: Dale (Marilyn) Olson of Colorado Springs, CO and Curt (Jane) Olson of Cedar Park, TX; her brother-in-law, Palmer Peterson of Minneapolis, MN; and several cousins, nieces, and nephews. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her sister-in-law, Clara (Broka) Peterson and her brother-in-law, Gary Buffin.

Bev appreciated the medical personnel from Aspirus for their care. She was also thankful for the care provided for the past 20 years by Ministry Oncology and other Ministry providers. The Emergency Care physician who attended to Bev the night before her passing was very attentive and kind.
