Obituary of Stanley Grys Sr.
Stanley A. Grys, Sr., age 79, of Wisconsin Rapids, passed away on Thursday, December 13, 2018. He is loved and will be dearly missed.
As were his wishes, the family will gather in the near future to celebrate his life. Herman-Taylor Funeral Home is honored to be serving the family at this difficult time.
Stanley was born March 15, 1939 in La Crosse, WI to Stephen and Ferne (Bartel) Grys. Stanley grew up in the Wisconsin Rapids area and was a very active part of Our Savior's Polish National Catholic Church in Mosinee, where he served as an Altar Boy. He attended PJ Jacobs High School in Stevens Point and studied mechanics at the technical college level.
Stanley is a United States Army Veteran and served his country well in Lebanon and Germany. While serving in Germany, he met the love of his life, Renate, and was married to her on April 6, 1959 in Langenselbold, Germany.
Stanley was the owner/operator of S-G Ford Tractor Co. Inc. and enjoyed teaching his sons the finer points of working on farm equipment. In addition, restoration of vehicles, league bowling, and camping were other things he greatly enjoyed. He was a member of the Lion's Club and volunteered regularly. In 1972, with six children between the ages of 4 and 12, he and his wife traveled to Germany.
Stanley is survived by his loving wife of nearly 60 years, Renate; his children: Jeane (Robert),Stanley Jr., Timothy (Michele), Tina, and Edwin (Melissa); grandchildren: Adam,Ashley (Pete), Tiffany (Michael), Nathaniel (Kayla), Christina (John), Jessie, Cassandra, Samantha, Tony, Kailey, Nick (Macy), Jacob (Lacey), Amber, and Christina; great-grandchildren: Wyatt, Carley, Alexander, Brielle,Taya, Elijah, Raven and Herbert; his siblings: Jane (David) and John (Ellen); his nephew: Eric (Leah); his nieces: Heather (Rob), Amanda, and Mary; his aunt, Louise, and several cousins. He is preceded in death by his parents; his son, Allen “Wookie” and many aunts and uncles.
