Obituary of Evelyn Agnes Fine

Evelyn A. Fine, age 93, of Sigel, entered into eternal life on Saturday, January 6, 2018 at Aspirus Riverview Hospital in Wisconsin Rapids, surrounded by her loving family.

Services will be at 12:00 P.M. on Wednesday, January 10, 2018 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Sigel. Rev. Doug Schalow will officiate. Burial will take place at St. John’s Lutheran Church Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service on Wednesday at the church. Herman-Taylor Funeral Home is honored to be serving the family. Evelyn was born on October 13, 1924 in Rudolph, WI to George and Theresa (Hilgers) Kuehl. She was baptized into God’s family on May 3, 1925 at Ebenezer Evangelical Lutheran Church in Milwaukee, WI. Evelyn attended Mill Creek (Milladore) and Pioneer (Sigel) grade schools.  She was confirmed on October 29, 1939 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Sigel, where she was a faithful, lifetime member.  Evelyn was a member of the high school graduating class of 1942 from the Wood County School of Agriculture and Domestic Economy.

She joined the World War II defense effort by making parts for the B29 Bombers at the Allis-Chalmers Plant in Milwaukee. Evelyn transferred to J.I. Case in Racine, WI where she would meet her future husband, Delmore Fine.  Evelyn and Delmore were married on March 4, 1944 at Atonement Evangelical Lutheran Church in Racine, WI. They moved to Wood County in 1945. Evelyn and Delmore built their home in 1953 in the Town of Sigel. They were married for 61 years, until Delmore’s passing on November 14, 2005. 

Evelyn enjoyed crafts, sewing, wood working, quilting, yard landscaping, and painting pictures. Evelyn and Delmore loved to take camping trips.  They traveled to most of the states that make up this great country.  They also traveled to England, France, and Germany. She also was an avid Sudoku enthusiast. Evelyn loved her Green Bay Packers.  Evelyn is loved and will be deeply missed by her family.

Evelyn is survived by her children: Allan (Patty) Fine, Donna (Dale) Scholze, Kay Lynn (William) Kissinger, and Robert (Diana) Fine; 12 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; 19 great-great grandchildren; siblings: Shirley Jacobson, Carol (Roger) Hansen, Patricia (Marvin) Nieman, Marvin (Janet) Kuehl, Melvin (June) Kuehl, Orval Kuehl, and Lester (Karen) Kuehl; brothers-in-law, John Cain and Sylvester Mancl; and many relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, George and Theresa; husband, Delmore; great-great granddaughter, Jaya; sisters: Lorraine Henke, Violet Mancl, and Ethel Cain; sister-in-law, Kathy Kuehl, and brothers-in-law: Harold Henke and Merlin Jacobson.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be designated to St. John’s Lutheran Church in Sigel, WI.
