Obituary of Wallace Jackson

WALLACE W. JACKSON (1942 ? 2011) Wallace Wayne ?Gator? Jackson of 4024 George Road, Wisconsin Rapids died Monday evening, October 24, 2011 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital. Services will be at 11:00AM on Friday at St. Paul?s Ev. Lutheran Church in Wisconsin Rapids. The Rev. James Douglas will officiate. Burial will be in the St. John?s Ev. Lutheran Church Cemetery in Kellner. Wally was born on June 9, 1942 in Wisconsin Rapids to George (Jud) Jackson and Flora (Beggs) Jackson. He was born again spiritually by way of God?s Means of Grace through Holy Baptism on November 15, 1942. Also, he was confirmed in the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ on May 6, 1956 at St. Paul?s Ev. Lutheran Church in Wisconsin Rapids. On October 27, 1972, he married Kathleen (Kathy) Steinke at St. Paul?s Ev. Lutheran Church and was blessed with three daughters. Wally served in the U.S. Navy from 1961-1965. He was employed at Consolidated Papers Inc. for 37 years working on the chain gang and then as an electrician. He retired in April 2001. In retirement, Wally and Kathy enjoyed traveling and golfing in the Southwest part of the United States. He also enjoyed giving of his time and talents by volunteering at St. Paul?s. He loved golfing, bowling, playing cards, hunting, fishing, gardening and spending time with his grandchildren. He was also an avid Packers, Badgers and Brewers fan. Wally is survived by his wife, Kathy; his three daughters, Jody Jackson and her husband Kyle Swanson of Oconomowoc, Jenny Parker and her husband Brian Parker of Cottage Grove and Jackie Jackson; five grandchildren, Amalia, Kelsy, Samuel, Cecilia Swanson and Elijah Jackson; one brother, Herbert R. (Carol) Jackson of Wisconsin Rapids; three sisters, Linda (Pete) Leder of Junction City, Susan Johnson of Sparta, and Shirley (Dennis) Koch of Junction City; many nieces, nephews, great-nephews, great-nieces and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, George Jackson and his mother, Flora (Beggs) Jackson. Friends may call at Taylor Funeral Home in Wisconsin Rapids from 3 to 8PM on Thursday, October 27. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been set up in his name for the St. Paul?s Ev. Lutheran Church Building Fund.
