Obituary of Raymond Dix
Raymond Dix, 93, of Wisconsin Rapids (Village of Biron) passed away peacefully at home on October 6, 2016 surrounded by his family.
Private family services were held on Saturday, October 15, 2016 and burial took place at Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Herman-Taylor Funeral Home assisted the family.
Raymond was born in the Town of Rock, Wood County on August 3, 1923 to Edward and Josephine (David) Dix . He married Sarah Eudora Budd on June 26, 1948 in Marshfield, WI. They were blessed with 68 wonderful years of marriage.
Raymond grew up on the family dairy farm in Richfield, WI. He worked as a Mobile Crane Operator for Consolidated Papers Inc., Biron Division from 1949 until his retirement in 1985. Raymond enjoyed fishing on the Wolf River, Willow Flowage, camping at Cera Park and listening to Johnny Cash and Roy Orbison. He especially enjoyed spending time with his beloved family. Raymond took great care of the 40 acres of land that he owned, using many of the trees to build homes and make cabinets and also for other carpentry work. He was also a Tree Farmer for Consolidated Papers. Raymond was the head usher and a member of the United Methodist Church.
Raymond is survived by his wife: Sarah "Dody"; son: Ray (Joanne) Dix Jr. of Bancroft; daughter: Sandy (Gary) Johnson of Wis. Rapids; three grandchildren: Anna (Scott) Sorenson of Almond, Ray J. Dix (Diana - significant other) of Bancroft, Marissa Johnson (Matt Petroske) of Wis. Rapids; three great-grandchildren: Jorja Rae Dix, Kassie Johnson and Elijah Johnson and many nieces and nephews. He will missed by his special buddy, his dog, Reggie as well as his cat, Smitty and granddog, Karma.
Raymond was preceded in death by his parents: Edward and Josephine; two brothers and four sisters.
The family would like to thank the Aspirus Riverview Medical-Surgical staff and United Emergency Medical Response for their care and concern.
