Mildred was born April 13, 1936, in Wisconsin Rapids, to Leslie and Mildred (Withers) Swartout. She married Ronald Sweeney on July 28, 1956. That marriage ended in divorce. She married Malcolm Bergan on Dec. 8, 1984.
Mildred was a member of the First Baptist Church for 64 years. Family and friends were very important to her as she loved to socialize and spread her joy. She will be remembered and deeply missed by many, as no one was a stranger to her, but within moments became her friend. Her love carried over for her pets and music. She especially liked to listen to polka music, Maggie Mae, and watch Hee-Haw.
Survivors include her husband, Malcolm, Wisconsin Rapids; three daughters, Bonnie (Gary) Gyrion, Wisconsin Rapids, Leaett Sweeney, Wisconsin Rapids, and Patty Sweeney, Wisconsin Rapids; granddaughter, Shannon (Bill) Goodenough, Wisconsin Rapids; two great-grandsons, Austin and Logan Goodenough; two sisters-in-law, Arlene (Mike) Bujanowski, Edgar, and Linda (Andy) VanErt, Dayton, Ohio; mother-in-law, Donna (Jim) Locey, Arpin; and several nieces and nephews. Her greatest joy was Shannon, Bill, Austin and Logan. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Berdine Keyes; nephew, Gary Keyes; and brother-in-law, James Keyes.
Friends may call 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at Taylor, Vollert and Jennings Funeral Home; and 10 a.m. until the time of services Tuesday at the church.
We will always hold a special place for our beloved wife, mother, and nana.
