Obituary of Evelyn Wilcox

Evelyn Lucille Wilcox, 78, 6721 Plover Road, Wisconsin Rapids, died Monday, December 26, 2011 at the Wisconsin Rapids Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Services will be at 11:00 AM on Friday, December 30th at First English Lutheran Church. Rev. Jennifer Fite will officiate. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, at a later date. Evelyn was born in Pittsville, Wisconsin on September 28, 1933 to John and Louisa (Dawes) Thedens. She married Elwyn Roy Wilcox on October 17, 1962 in Springdale, Wisconsin. He died October 5, 2006. Evelyn was employed by Paper Board Products as a mill laborer and by Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery as a grounds keeper. She also was a bartender for the Edge of Town and Dixie Bars. Evelyn was a member of the First English Lutheran Church; however she was baptized and confirmed in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Pittsville. She truly loved and cared for her family and all the grandchildren. In her free time, Evelyn enjoyed playing softball, bowling, camping, riding with Retreads Motorcycle Club and gardening. Evelyn is survived by her 2 children: Roger A.(Jodi) Wilcox, Nekoosa; and Sharon (Dean) Richardson, Shelby Township, Michigan; 6 grandchildren: Marcus Wilcox, Oshkosh, WI; Devon Wilcox, Beloit, WI; Ashlyn and Jarett Wilcox, Nekoosa; Adam Richardson, Indiana University, Bloomington, Indiana; Danielle Richardson of Shelby Township, Michigan; and 1 brother: Carl Thedens. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and 2 brothers: Bob (Ilene) Thedens and Donald Thedens. Friends may call at Taylor, Vollert and Jennings Funeral Home, Wisconsin Rapids, from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Thursday, December 29th, and again on Friday beginning at 10:00 AM at the church before the service.
