Obituary of Arlymae Witt
Arlymae Witt, age 84, of Wisconsin Rapids, passed away on Saturday April 30, 2016 at Sylvan's Crossings in Stevens Point.
A memorial visitation from 1:00 P.M. until 3:00 P.M. will be held on Thursday, May 5, 2016 at Herman-Taylor Funeral Home in Wisconsin Rapids. Burial will be at a later date in St. John Lutheran Parish Cemetery.
Arlymae was born on May 4, 1931 to Louis and Dorothy (Duxbury) Gerzmehle in Pittsville. Arlymae graduated from Lincoln High School where she met her future husband Nathan "Bud" Witt. The high school sweethearts were married on March 10, 1951 and were blessed with 60 years of marriage before Nathan passed away on February 22, 2012.
When Nathan enlisted in the U.S. Airforce Arlymae decided to join him in his travels around the world. While they were stationed overseas she worked on base in the PX. Upon returning to Wisconsin the couple settled in Wisconsin Rapids where Arlymae started working at the Wood County Telephone Company as a switch board operator and later at the Red Owl Grocery as a produce manager. Arlymae enjoyed reading, camping, traveling with her husband and gardening. Never one to just sit around Arlymae always kept herself busy.
Arlymae is survived by her sons: Allen (Pam), Randal (Sandra) and Michael (Teresita) all of Wisconsin Rapids area; granddaughters: Danielle (Harley) Heinrich and Kayla Witt; great-grandchildren: Mallorie and Wyatt Plawman, Alexa Heinrich; brother Jerry (LuAnn) Gerzmehle; sisters-in-law: Gail (Richard) Ashenbrener and Dawn Schacht as well as other extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved husband Nathan and her brothers: Don, Dale and Dick Gerzmehle.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made in her name to the St. John Lutheran Parish Cemetery Maintenance fund.
