Obituary of Myrtle Klemp
Myrtle V. Klemp, 97, of Port Edwards, died Saturday, December 31, 2011 at Edgewater Haven Nursing Home.
Services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 3rd at Taylor, Vollert and Jennings Funeral Home. Rev. Paul Veldman will officiate. Burial will be in Union Grove Cemetery in Milladore.
Myrtle was born July 18, 1914 in Lancaster, WI to Arthur and Viola (Belscamper) Reynolds. She married Henry J. Klemp on June 28, 1933. She and her husband lived in the Milladore area until his death in 1989 when she moved to Wisconsin Rapids.
Myrtle worked as a nurse?s aide for several nursing homes in Wood County, as well as at Riverview Hospital. Her last position was as a nurse?s aide at Southern Colony near Union Grove, where she retired from in 1972.
Myrtle was a member of many organizations and service clubs in the Wisconsin Rapids area. In 1997, she was named Volunteer of the Year. She was the Myrtle who called into WFHR every day with her jokes.
Myrtle is survived by her son, Douglas (Marge) Klemp of Wausau; two daughters: Carol (Paul) Glaza and Patricia (Nicholas) Glaza, both of Wisconsin Rapids; eight grandchildren: Sharon (Roger) Herman, Gary (Diane) Glaza, Jeff (Wanda) Glaza, Kim (Jim) Seivers, Kevin (Jeanette) Glaza, Kathy (Ted) Keiffer, Dawn (Ben) Eaton, and Chad (Diane) Glaza; eighteen great-grandchildren: Heather Herman, Holly (Chris) Fitzgerald, Kyle Herman, Amy Herman, Tyler Keiffer, Taylor Keiffer, Jessica (Jeb) McKinney, Nicole Glaza, Abbi Glaza, Courtney Eaton, Allison Eaton, Shayla Glaza, Cassandra Glaza, Rachel Glaza, Haylee Glaza, Jayden Glaza, Ashley Glaza, and Hannah Glaza; eleven step-great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild, Cashton McKinney who was born on Christmas day 2011. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one grandson, Rick, and one brother, Lester, and one great-great-grandson, Logan.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services on Tuesday.
