Obituary of David Markworth
David ?Pete? L. Markworth, 72, of Wisconsin Rapids, passed away Wednesday, January 04, 2012 at his residence.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 7th at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Wisconsin Rapids. Rev. John Grohs will officiate. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
Pete was born December 10, 1939 in Wisconsin Rapids to David and Norma (Albert) Markworth. He graduated from Lincoln High School in 1958. In 1962, he graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point with bachelor?s degrees in history and German. He later received degrees from Concordia University in St. Paul and Valparaiso University in Valparaiso, IN. Pete taught at several schools, but mostly in Elroy. In 1972, Pete began his career as a baker at Foodland in Spencer and retired as a baker for West Grand IGA in 1998.
Pete was united in marriage to Diane Jensen on May 14, 1976 in Spencer. He was an active member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and served on the board of directors and ministry of discipleship. Pete had a love for discussing American history and politics. He was an avid Green Bay Packer and Wisconsin Badger fan.
He is survived by his wife, Diane; son, Christopher (Wendy) Markworth of Marshfield; grandchildren: Brandon and Jessica; great-grandchildren: Audrina and Archer; sister, Pauline (Roger) Romanski of Wisconsin Rapids; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Friends may call at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Wisconsin Rapids from 9:00 a.m. until 11 a.m. on Saturday.
