Obituary of M. Cooper
Colleen M. Cooper, 85, 1351 Wisconsin River Drive, Port Edwards, formerly of 1200 Huntington Avenue, Wisconsin Rapids, died February 06, 2012 at Edgewater Haven Nursing Home in Port Edwards, where she had lived for the past year.
Services will be at 11:00 am on Friday, February 10 at United Methodist Church in Port Edwards. Rev. Bill Beaton will officiate. Burial will be in the Port Edwards Cemetery.
Colleen was born in Wisconsin Rapids on September 13, 1926 to Jesse and Laura Belle (Stewart) Ashburn. She married George H. Cooper on May 15, 1948 in Wisconsin Rapids. He died on November 10, 1992.
Colleen worked at Port Edwards Paper Mill before her marriage. Upon returning to the work force she worked as a Nurse?s Aide at Edgewater Haven Nursing Home and as a Bookkeeper for both Kellog?s Lumber Co. in Wisconsin Rapids and Edgewater Haven. She also was employed at Bob?s Castle Foods in the Produce Department. After retiring in 1987, she and George enjoyed fishing and boating on the Wolf River by Guth?s Resort. Other favorite past times were shaking dice and playing cards with good camping friends and family members.
Colleen is survived by her son: Clifton G. Cooper, Sparta, WI; daughter: Diana (David) King, Nekoosa, WI; 4 grandchildren: Cory (Amy) Cooper, Wisconsin Rapids, WI; Melissa (Steve) Swierczewski, Geneva, IL; Megan King, Weston, WI; Kaleb King, Wisconsin Rapids; 2 great-grandchildren: Evan and Julia Swierczewski, Geneva, IL; 2 sisters: Mary Ralson, Sauk Village, IL; and her twin sister Corrine Parker, Blaine, MN. She is also survived by 1 brother-in-law, 4 sisters-in-law and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, George; daughter, Jacqueline (Jackie) Baltus; brothers, George and Dale Ashburn.
Friends may call at Taylor, Vollert and Jennings Funeral Home from 4pm ? 7 pm on Thursday and at the church on Friday from 10 am until the time of services.
The family would like to thank the nurses, aides and staff of the 300 wing at Edgewater Haven and Ministry Home Care Hospice for their exceptional kindness and care given to Colleen.
