Obituary of Harvey E. Taschner

Harvey E. Taschner, 96, of Wisconsin Rapids, died Friday, February 17, 2012 at Riverview Medical Center in Wisconsin Rapids. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 22nd at Immanuel Lutheran Church. Rev. John Grohs will officiate. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Harvey was born October 19, 1915 in Neshkoro, Wisconsin to Emil and Ida (Hessler) Taschner. He married Leona Winters on August 30, 1933. She died March 10, 1980. He married Frances Winters February 14, 1981. She died on August 8, 2008. Harvey worked for Consolidated Papers Inc. for 34 years and was a rural letter carrier for the US Postal Service. Harvey was a faithful member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. He loved to travel and enjoyed driving anywhere. He also loved listening to polka music and visiting and talking about the old times. Harvey is survived by six children: Vivian Lois of Pardeeville, Vernel (LaVerne) Taschner of Golden Valley, AZ, Donald (Judi) Taschner of Wisconsin Rapids, Mary (Roger) Rybicki of Rudolph, and John (Jonette) Taschner of Camino, CA; seven step-children: Roger (Faye) Winters of Hayward, Judy (Clarence) McGill of Adams, Adele Hamm of Kirksville, Missouri, Diane Harris of Wisconsin Rapids, Bette Jo Ratliff of Waterford, Linda (David) Bartholf of Burlington, and Ronda Aron (Kurt Higgins) of Wisconsin Rapids; twenty grandchildren; twenty seven step-grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and step-great-great-grandchildren; one half-brother, Thomas Taschner of Wisconsin Rapids; three step-sisters: Betty Tiffany of Texas, Delores (Arnie) Zellmer of Necedah, and Lois Keena of Oxford;and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, wives Leona and Frances, daughter, Laura, step-son, Jerry Winters, four grandchildren, three brothers: Walter, Marvin, and Edward, two sisters: Edna Schmidt and Laura Pennell, and step-mothers: Martha and Mildred. Friends may call at Taylor, Vollert and Jennings Funeral Home from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Tuesday and at Immanuel Lutheran Church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services on Wednesday. The family will be establishing a memorial at a later date.
