Obituary of James Carlson
James A. Carlson Sr., Nekoosa, died Wednesday, February 22, 2012 at William S. Middleton VA Hospital, Madison, WI after a swift and courageous fight with leukemia.
Friends may call at Taylor, Vollert and Jennings Funeral Home in Wisconsin Rapids from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Friday, February 24, 2012. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 25, 2012 at 3:00 PM at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah?s Witness, 1432 32nd Street South, Wisconsin Rapids, WI.
James ?Jim? was born February 25, 1942 in Portland, OR to the late Clarence and Della (White) Carlson.
Jim worked as a Welder for many years until he founded ?JC Construction? and worked until his retirement.
Jim had an amazing talent for creating beautiful things out of wood. He was also known as a ?Jack of all trades? and could do anything he put his mind too. He will be remembered by family for his great ?grilling? skills at his picnics which were loved by all. He also had a heart of gold be didn?t want to admit it. His true loves, besides his mustang convertible, were his children and grandchildren. He also kept a strong faith right until the very end. Jim will be dearly missed and loved by his family.
Jim is survived by 6 children, Matthew (Viola) Kelly of Astoria, NY, Cynthia (Shannon) O?Hearn of Weston, WI, Betsy-Jo (Chris) Herrmann of Rudolph, WI, James A. Carlson Jr. of Necedah, WI, Jami Carlson of Madison, WI and Jesse Overbey of Madison, WI; 8 grandchildren, Dana (Casey) Olson, Jonah Herrmann, Moriah Olson, Tyler Carlson, Ethan Herrmann, Payton O?Hearn, Joshua Herrmann and Amaya O?Hearn; 8 siblings, Betty Fowle, Mary (Gordy) Miller, Wayne (Chris) Carlson, David (Bonnie) Carlson, Lyle (Helen) Carlson, Shirley Torgerson, Mark (Cher) Carlson, Ed Carlson and many other family and friends. He is preceded in death by an infant daughter, Mary-Jo Carlson.
