Obituary of Marge Barkey

Marge Mary Barkey, 92, Wisconsin Rapids, died Saturday, February 25, 2012 at St. Michael?s Hospital, Stevens Point. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, February 29, 2012 at Saint Lawrence Catholic Church in Wisconsin Rapids. Entombment will be in Forest Hill Mausoleum in Wisconsin Rapids. Marge was born August 8, 1919 in Chicago, IL to the late Joseph and Barbara (Oberst) Weidner. She married William Barkey on March 30, 1940 at Saint Benedict?s Church in Chicago, IL. The couple was blessed with the births of two daughters, Barbara and Kathleen. They celebrated 50 years together prior to William?s death on August 30, 1990. Marge worked for Illinois Bell Telephone Company as a Service Representative. Marge enjoyed volunteering with the Senior Craft Shop and Costumers City Productions. She also was a avid story writer with the Lowell Writer's group at the senior center. She never forgot a loved one?s birthday or anniversary and always sent out cards at the holidays. In her free time, Marge enjoyed sewing, cooking and taking care of family. Survivors include her daughters, Barbara (Thomas) Barry of Libertyville, IL and Kathleen (Russell) Windsor of Almond, WI; 8 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by 3 brothers, Clarence, William and Joseph; and an infant sister, Mary. Friends may call at Taylor, Vollert and Jennings Funeral Home in Wisconsin Rapids from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Tuesday, February 28, and at the church on Wednesday from 10:00 AM until the time of services.
