Obituary of Dorothy Midthun
Dorothy G. Midthun, 88, died Thursday, March 1, 2012 at The Renaissance, Wisconsin Rapids.
Services will be at 2:30 PM on Sunday, March 4, 2012 at First Congregational Church ? United Church of Christ in Wisconsin Rapids. Reverend Paul Veldman will officiate. Burial will be in Restlawn Cemetery in the Town of Grand Rapids on Monday, March 5 at 9:00 AM.
Dorothy was born January 1, 1924 to the late Edward and Cora Lillian (Horstmeyer) Graul. Sadly, Lillian died only a few days after Dorothy?s birth. Edward later remarried to the late Esther Krueger. Dorothy married Morgan L. Midthun on May 26, 1946 in Madison, WI. They were overjoyed with the births of four children: John, Tom, Mary and Nancy. Dorothy and Morgan celebrated 53 loving years together prior to his death on February 25, 2000.
Dorothy was a devoted wife, mother, and later grandmother. She always had a positive attitude about life and was gracious and kind. Dorothy was a woman with a deep sense of faith and had been a very active member of First Congregational Church for many years. She loved spending time in northern Wisconsin with her family. In addition, Dorothy also enjoyed her bridge club and New Century Book Club.
Survivors include her beloved children, Dr. John (Catherine) Midthun of Anchorage, AK, Tom (Diane) Midthun of Green Bay, Mary (Brad) Bauknecht of Oshkosh and Nancy (Scott) McGinness of Carmel, IN; 13 grandchildren; 1 granddaughter-in-law; 1 great-granddaughter; brother, Merlin Graul of Leesburg, FL; 1 niece; 3 nephews and extended family and friends.
Friends may call at the First Congregational Church in Wisconsin Rapids from 1:00 PM until the time of services on Sunday, March 4.
