Obituary of Darlene Lenere Hacker Bravick
Darlene Carmen Lenere Hacker Bravick, 84, 145 North Cedar Street, Nekoosa, died Wednesday, March 6, 2012 at her residence.
Services will be at 6:00 pm on Friday, March 9th at Taylor, Vollert and Jennings Funeral Home. Rev. Steve Barton will officiate.
Darlene was born in Bricelyn, Minnesota on September 4, 1927 to James and Edna (Walle) Hacker. She married Wayne Bravick on October 7, 1951. He died May 14, 1996.
Darlene graduated in 1945 from Thompson High School in Thompson, Iowa and pursued a degree at The School of Cosmetology in Des Moines, Iowa. She operated a beauty shop in Thompson which was located next to her father-in-law?s grocery store. In 1972 she and Wayne moved to Port Edwards where she attained the position of bookkeeper/secretary for Bassuener Construction for 4 years. Her entrepreneur spirit led her to The Royal Hawaiian Supper Club in 1976, which she owned and operated for 19 years. Her love for her work of service spilled over to her customers as she considered many of them as second family.
Darlene is survived by 2 daughters: Cheryl (Bill) Ophiem of Ames, Iowa; Vicky Captaine of Oshkosh, Wisconsin; 3 sons: Jim Bravick, Wisconsin Rapids; David (Sue) Bravick, Nekoosa; Dennis (Michelle) Bravick, Poynette, Wisconsin; sister: Donna Hacker of Denver, Colorado; grandchildren: David Ophiem, Sarah (Mike) Sauer, Matt and Megan Captaine, Gena (Andy) Austin, Amy, Aaron, Rachel, Ashley and Michael Bravick, Laura Hartle; great-grandchildren: Breeann Hartle, Angela Ophiem, Thomas Sauer and Jonathan Austin. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne, parents, brother, Lyle Hacker, infant sister, Lila Loretta, grandchildren, Rebecca and James Ophiem and son-in-law, Jim Captaine.
Friends may call at Taylor, Vollert and Jennings Funeral Home from 4pm ? 6pm on Friday.
A memorial is being established.
