Obituary of John Vander Meer

John Keith Vander Meer, 54, of 4610 8th Street South, Wisconsin Rapids, died Saturday, March 17, 2012, at his residence after a long battle with bronchial pneumonia. Funeral services will be at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 21st at Taylor, Vollert and Jennings Funeral Home. Military rites will be provided by American Legion Post 9. John was born August 31, 1957 in Milwaukee to Jacob and Geraldine (Gravelle) Vander Meer Sr. He married his life partner of thirty years, Randy J. Kinder on October 18, 2008 in California. John loved gardening and fishing. He loved to travel with Randy and was especially fond of his martinis. John is survived by his spouse, Randy of Wisconsin Rapids; his mother, Gerry Vander Meer of Arkdale; his fur babies: Jackson, Willy and Foo; siblings: Lori Vander Meer of Wisconsin Rapids, Anthony (Jill) Vander Meer of Minneapolis, Leslie (Mark Z.) Vander Meer of Milwaukee, Geri Vander Meer of Florence, and Mark Vander Meer of Long Beach, California; many nieces and nephews, including special nephews Bruno, Charles, and Jacob Thompson and special nieces Jenny and Kim; mother-in-law, Donna Kinder; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Dolly (Robert) Castillo; and special friends Thomas Prutz, Vinny Di Gesu and Maria Lopiparo and family. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, his father, brother, Jacob Jr., and in-laws Leroy Kinder Sr. and Bonnie Wolf. Friends may call at Taylor, Vollert and Jennings Funeral Home from 4:00 p.m. until the time of services at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
