Obituary of Steven Narel
Steven Mark Narel, 50, Town of Saratoga, died Thursday, April 5, 2012 at his home.
Steve was born August 1, 1961 in Wisconsin Rapids to Virginia (Kuhn) and the late Louis Narel. He grew up in Wisconsin Rapids and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1979. On June 1, 1985, Steve married Marlene Stransky at the Moravian Church in Wisconsin Rapids and the couple was later blessed with two children, Dylan and Falen.
Steve began working for Basic American Foods early in life as a machine operator. After leaving Basic American Foods, he held other positions to include working as an auto mechanic for two car dealerships in Wisconsin Rapids. Many years were spent working at Consolidated Papers, Paperboard Division as a machinery operator. After leaving Consolidated Papers, he went to school at Mid-State Technical College, earning his Machinist Degree. He went on to work as a machinist for Innovative Machine and later the Donaldson Company in Stevens Point.
Since Steve?s childhood, riding off-road motorcycles was his passion. He enjoyed spending time with friends at the races who became a second family. Steve travelled throughout the United States with his wife and children following his dreams. Steve road with heart and talent which showed through in the results he achieved. Steve was the Wisconsin Enduro Champion for many years in addition to the champion of other state series. Steve?s children, Dylan and Falen, inherited his passion for off-road racing. Once they were old enough, Steve hung up his helmet to be their coach, mentor and mechanic. Weekends often found the family traveling to a race and camping together. Steve was a doting father and he was very proud of his son and daughter. Over the last couple of years, his hobby shifted to rebuilding vintage bikes. Steve will be missed by family and friends for his vast knowledge and guidance on off-road motorcycles.
Survivors include his beloved wife, Marlene; children, Dylan and Falen; mother, Virginia Narel; mother-in-law Frances Stransky; brother and sister-in-law, Gene and Alice Elvers; godchildren, Rylie and Dakota Elvers; and extended family and friends. He is preceded by his infant son, Damian; father, Louis Narel; sister, Lisa Narel; maternal grandparents, Gus and Esther Kuhn; and paternal grandparents, Bruno and Pearl Narel.
Friends may call at Taylor, Vollert and Jennings Funeral Home in Wisconsin Rapids from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Tuesday, April 10th. Funeral services will be at 7:00 PM on Tuesday, April 10th at Taylor, Vollert and Jennings Funeral Home. Bruce Vanetta will officiate. Burial will take place 10:00 AM on Wednesday, April 11th at Restlawn Cemetery, Town of Grand Rapids.
