Obituary of Darrell Engel

Darrell Lee Engel, 57, Wisconsin Rapids, died at his home Thursday, April 12, 2012. Darrell was born December 6, 1954 in Wisconsin Rapids to Leo and Barbara (Blanchard) Engel. He grew up in Wisconsin Rapids and is a graduate of Lincoln High School. Darrell served his country in the US Navy. Although a deeply private man, Darrell enjoyed spending time with family and the family trips to Holcombe, WI. He also enjoyed playing cribbage. Some of his favorite times were sturgeon fishing in the flowage where he could spend hours and hours with nature. Survivors include his children, Angela (fiancé, Justin Perkins) Engel, Jacob (Courtney) Engel and Deadra (David) Dooley; 4 grandchildren; father and step-mother, Leo (Shirley) Engel; mother, Barbara Winegarden; siblings, Rod (Debbie) Engel, Gail (Thomas) Schneider, Kay (David) Iwanski, Cheryl Plaski, Kim (Michael) Engel Winter and Kelly Romel; step-siblings, Daryl (Adrienne) Kingery, Douglas (Kathy) Kingery, Gary Kingery, Terry Kingery, Sharon (James) Laufenberg and Dawn (Edward) Haasl; 10 nieces and nephews and extended family and friends. A private family memorial service will take place at a later date. Taylor, Vollert and Jennings Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.
