Obituary of Dorothy Roberts
Dorothy V. Roberts, 91, of Wisconsin Rapids, passed away at Our House on 16th Street in Wisconsin Rapids. Dorothy went home to be with her Lord and Savior on April 18th, 2012 on her husband?s birthday.
Dorothy was born April 26, 1920 in Randolph, Wisconsin to Alfred and Abby (Sanborn) Allen. Dorothy was united in marriage to Harold Roberts on September 6, 1936 in Rockton, Illinois. He died on April 14, 1970.
Dorothy was a Sunday School Teacher and Sunday School Superintendant for many years at the former Assembly of God Church in Wisconsin Rapids. Dorothy loved the Lord and read her Bible faithfully. She also was a homemaker all of her life, enjoying her baking, writing numerous poems, and sewing.
She will be dearly missed by her five wonderful daughters: Melva Smits, Karen Wenger, Bobby (Daniel ) Sparks, all of Wisconsin Rapids; Nancy (Chuck) McKenney of Nekoosa; and Corrine Roberts of Appleton. Dorothy will also be missed by her grandchildren: Debbie (Dale) Winkler; Sue (Steve) Wentworth; Kevin Smits and friend Michelle; Jeff (Amy) Smits; Dawn (Tony) Peterson; David Wenger; Doug (Paula) Wenger; Sandy (Doug) Schallie; Cindy (Dan) Anderson; Teresa Sillman and special friend Jerry; Nicole (Peter) Loire; and David (Tiffany) Roberts. Dorothy is survived by 7 sets of 5 generations, including 29 great grandchildren and 21 great-great grandchildren. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Darlene; sisters Donna Mae Thurber and Evelyn Pearson; two infant brothers; two sons-in-law, Jerry Wenger and Cliff Smits; two grandsons Danial McKenney and Dylan Sparks; and two granddaughters, Lanae North and Angel Sparks.
Visitation will be held at Taylor, Vollert and Jennings Funeral Home from 5pm to 7pm on Friday, April 20, 2012. Pallbearers are: Kevin and Jeff Smits, David Roberts, Dan Sillman, Derreck Winkler and Doug Wenger.
A service celebrating Dorothy?s life will be held at 11:00 on Saturday, April 21st at Taylor, Vollert and Jennings Funeral Home with Pastor Kevin Bishop officiating. Family and friends are invited to gather one hour prior to the service. Interment will take place at Forest Hill Cemetery in Wisconsin Rapids immediately following the service.
