Obituary of Willard C. Herrin

Willard C. Herrin Jr., age 83, of Plover, passed away on Sunday, May 8, 2016 at Atrium Post Acute Care in Stevens Point. Services will be 11:00 AM Wednesday, May 11, 2016 at Herman-Taylor Funeral Home in Wisconsin Rapids. Rev. Marty Nolet will officiate. Burial will be at Meehan Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 9:00 AM until the time of services at the funeral home. Willard was born on May 29, 1932 in Green Bay, WI to Willard Sr. and Almina (Schenk) Herrin. He graduated from Lincoln High School in Wisconsin Rapids. Willard married Shirley Monk on October 13, 1951 in Kellner. Willard was employed by Nekoosa Paper Mill before he and Shirley moved to Park Falls, WI where they owned and operated Northwoods Crafts and Gifts for over 20 years before retiring to Plover. Willard enjoyed spending time outdoors fishing, hunting and snowmobiling. He liked to throw horseshoes and wood working in his spare time. Willard was an excellent pool player and passed his love of the game to his children. Willard is survived by his wife Shirley; children: Charles Herrin (Judy), Cynda (Griff) Collier, Phillip (Lauri) Herrin, Randy (JoAnn) Herrin, Kathy (Steve) Fredock, Laurie Herrin (Rosie) and Bradley Herrin (Anne); 14 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, and two infant children. Willard's family would like to express their gratitude to the staff at Atrium Post Acute Care of Stevens Point as well as the Ministry Hospice for all of the excellent care and compassion.
