Obituary of Mavis Larish

Mavis Marie Larish, 81, of Wisconsin Rapids, passed away Saturday evening, April 28, 2012 at the home of her daughter, surrounded by her family. Memorial services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 2nd at Taylor, Vollert and Jennings Funeral Home. Pastor Bob Dow will officiate. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home. Mavis was born July 6, 1930 in Oshkosh to Julius and Ernestine (Robl) Nekoli. She married Arthur Larish in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. The marriage was blessed with six children. Mavis worked as a housekeeper at the Mead Inn for 16 years. Mavis was a loving mom and grandma who cherished time spent with her children and grandchildren. She especially enjoyed game days with her family. She always had a soft spot in her heart for animals and had many pets throughout her life. Mavis is survived by 6 children: Christine (Marcos) Ortiz of Kenosha, Jeffrey Larish of New Hampshire, and Laura (Dennis) Ewell, James (Paula) Larish, Lynn (Michael) Derrie, and Lisa (Steven) Bollman, all of Wisconsin Rapids; 13 grandchildren; 11 step-grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and 15 step-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and 10 siblings and their spouses. The family extends a special thank you to Dr. Robert Roenius for all the years of wonderful care he gave to mom and to Dr. Anna Olson and Dr. Ron Kirschling and the staff at UW Cancer Center and the doctors, nurses and CNAs at Riverview Hospital for their care of mom. Thanks also to Aspirus Hospice for their kind and compassionate care given to mom in her final days, especially by LPN Joann L.
