Obituary of Marlene Henke

Marlene Lou Henke, 71, 5045 Jefferson Road, Vesper, Wisconsin, died Thursday, May 3, 2012 at her home. Services will be at 11:00 am on Monday, May 7th at Taylor, Vollert and Jennings Funeral Home. Rev. Doug Schalow will officiate. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Marlene was born in Wisconsin Rapids on August 21, 1940 to August and Eunice (Johnson) Ferkey. She married Fred Henke on August 26, 1957 in Wisconsin Rapids. Marlene was a lifelong farm girl who loved taking care of her home and her children. She had a quiet demeanor, was always polite, and enjoyed helping others in their time of need. She thrived on having her family around her, making sure everyone was well fed and comfortable in her home. She especially loved holidays and being with her grandkids. A few of her favorite things to do were hunting, fishing, gardening and making crafts. Marlene is survived by her husband, Fred; 5 children: Randy (Deb) Henke of Vesper; Alan (Joy) Henke of Bancroft; Cindy (Mark) Illinski of Stevens Point; Renita (Jason) Todd of Wisconsin Rapids; and Renee (Mike) Rutta of Woodruff; 22 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; 1 sister, Pat (Duane) Hofmeister of Nekoosa; 2 brothers: George (Audrey) Ferkey of Nekoosa and Dick (Jeanette) Ferkey of Missouri. She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter, Chris Barton, 2 great-grandchildren, and 2 brothers, Gene and Roy Ferkey.
