Obituary of Frederick Haimerl
Frederick Francis Haimerl, 97, Wisconsin Rapids, died Friday, May 4, 2012 at Arborview Court under the care of Ministry Home Care Hospice.
Fred was born November 11, 1914 in Beaver Dam to the late George and Hattie (Brossard) Haimerl. He married the love of his life, Jean Roedl, on November 29, 1941. When his country called, Fred served in the Army with the 252nd Field Artillery Battalion from 1942 until 1946 in the European Theater. Upon returning home, Fred and Jean started a family with the additions of their son, Frederic and daughter, Heidi. He was a good father to his children and good provider for his family.
Fred worked as a plumber throughout his life, at times with his brother, Edward, at times independently and sometimes for others. He retired from working while at the Primate Laboratory at the University of Wisconsin, Madison, where he had been a plumber for many years.
Fred was an avid fan of the University of Wisconsin sports program, and rarely missed the opportunity to cheer the Badgers on. When not working, he still could be found keeping busy working on his model train collection or out in his immaculate flower beds. Fred took time to enjoy golfing and playing Sheepshead with his sister-in-law, Muriel Haimerl, where she would often say ?you play your cards and I?ll play mine? much to Fred?s frustration.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 70 years, Jean; children, Frederic and Kay (Thiede) Haimerl and Heidi and Craig Ewert; grandchildren, Ryan Haimerl and Erin and Eric Klundt; and extended family and friends. He is preceded in death by his brother, Edward Haimerl.
A private family memorial service will take place at a later date in Beaver Dam.
Taylor, Vollert and Jennings Funeral Home, Wisconsin Rapids, is assisting the family.
