Obituary of Helen Radtke

Helen Ruth Radtke, 77, of 421 8th Avenue No., Wisconsin Rapids, died unexpectedly Wednesday, May 9, 2012 at Riverview Medical Center. Services will be at 11:00 am on Monday, May 14, 2012 at St. John?s Lutheran Church in the Town of Sigel. Rev. Douglas Schalow will officiate. Burial will be in St. John?s Lutheran Cemetery also in the Town of Sigel. Helen was born in the Town of Sigel, Wisconsin on September 2, 1934 to Floyd and Anna (Fahl) Quinnell. She married George Radtke on July 7, 1953 at St. John?s Lutheran Church in the Town of Sigel. Being a homemaker suited Helen as she enjoyed tending to her house plants, her beautiful flower gardens and feeding the birds. She loved to have her family together, and was always interested in what her granddaughters were up to. Helen also had a love for her pets- dogs, cats and parakeets. In her younger years, Helen enjoyed dancing with George at the Starlight Ballroom to her favorite polka music. Helen is survived by her husband, George; 2 children: Kathy (Doug) Pechinski of Wisconsin Rapids; Dave Radtke of Las Vegas, NV; 2 granddaughters: Rebecca Pechinski of Denver, CO; Holly (Don) Mjelde of Tulsa, OK; 2 brothers: Charles (Barbara) Quinnell of Sigel; John (Irene) Quinnell of Vesper and sister-in-law, Jane Quinnell of Wisconsin Rapids. She is preceded in death by her parents, 3 brothers: Gerald, Richard and James Quinnell; an infant brother; and 2 sisters: Ruth Baltus and Ellen Quinnell. Friends of Helen may call at Taylor, Vollert and Jennings Funeral Home from 4-8 pm on Sunday, May 13th and at the church on Monday from 10:00 am until the time of services. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be designated to St. John?s Lutheran Church in Sigel.
