Obituary of Gordon Finup
Gordon August Finup, 91, of Port Edwards, died Sunday July 29, 2012, at Riverview Hospital.
Services will be at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 1st, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Port Edwards. Rev. Daniel Bohn will officiate. Burial will be in Port Edwards Municipal Cemetery. Friends may call at the church from 10:30 a.m. until the time of services at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
He was born August 28, 1920 in the township of Sigel to August and Magdalena (Ruess) Finup. He married Doris Cline on February 26, 1949. The couple was blessed with 61 years of marriage and six children. Doris died November 6, 2010.
Gordon worked in the shipping department at Nekoosa Edwards Paper Company, and retired in 1982 after 33 years of service.
Gordon was a faithful member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Port Edwards. He was an avid reader and loved woodworking. He also enjoyed spending time outdoors fishing and gardening. He liked to take day trips in the car with Doris and enjoyed spending time up north. His greatest joy was being with family and friends.
Gordon is survived by his six children: Randy (Carol) of Wisconsin Rapids, Diane Dusenske of Stevens Point, Greg (Debbie) of Wisconsin Rapids, Marilyn (Ed) Bohen of Stevens Point, David of Port Edwards, and Patty (Dale) Stainbrook of Briggsville. He is further survived by eight grandchildren: Kelly, Randy Jr., Chris, Michelle, Jeffrey, Kyle, Eric, and Nicole, and seven great-grandchildren: Cole, Ali, Nate, Elsie, Addie, Caroline, and Alaina. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Doris, and two sisters, Corinne Finup and Camilla Stanton.
