Obituary of William Schoenick
William Louis Schoenick, 83, of 4831 Griffith Avenue, Wisconsin Rapids, passed away peacefully Sunday morning, August 12, 2012 at his residence.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 16th at St. John Lutheran Church in Kellner. Rev. Kevin Ader will officiate. Burial will be at a later date in Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday at Taylor, Vollert and Jennings Funeral Home and from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Thursday at the church.
Bill was born September 23, 1928 in Wisconsin Rapids to Walter and Gertrude (Martin) Schoenick. On May 25, 1949, he was united in marriage to Helen Hamann at St. John?s Lutheran Church in Kellner. The couple was blessed with 63 years of marriage.
Bill was employed by Nekoosa Edwards Paper Company as a beater engineer for 40 years. He and Helen also worked at Powers Bluff and other ski areas as part of National Ski Patrol for many years.
Bill had a love for skiing, and he and his family made many memories during their annual ski trip to the Porcupine Mountains. Bill also loved to fish and ride bike and spent many summers camping in Algoma. He enjoyed traveling and went many places with his wife, Helen, including a trip to the Arctic Circle.
Bill is survived by his wife, Helen; four children: James (Claydeen) Schoenick, Trudy (Rich) Larson, Gerald Schoenick, and Cynthia Schoenick; five grandchildren: Lisa Larson (Shawn), Randy Larson (Amber), Nicholas Schoenick, Lucas Schoenick, and Kaycee Schoenick (John); three great-grandchildren: Bailea Murphy, Shayleigh Hewson, and Damien Riveria; two brothers: Donald (Ardell) Schoenick and Walter Jr. (Sandra) Schoenick; one sister, Carol (Gerald) O?Neill; brother-in-law, Neal Hamann; and many nieces and nephews; special friends; and pets. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Marie Schoenick; in-laws, Fred and Earl Hamann, Verna Newman, Myrtle Hamann, Lilian Fletcher, Kathy Schoenick, Lavera Hamann and Wallace Fletcher.
Memorials may be designated to St. John Lutheran Church in Kellner.
