Obituary of Daniel Diaz

Daniel Diaz, 73, Wisconsin Rapids, died Saturday, October 20, 2012 at Saint Joseph?s Hospital, Marshfield. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 AM on Friday, October 26 at Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish, Nekoosa. Father John Swing will officiate. Visitation will be from 3:00 PM until 9:00 PM on Thursday, October 25 at Herman-Taylor Funeral Home, Wisconsin Rapids, and from 8:30 AM until 9:30 AM Friday morning at the funeral home prior to processing to the church. Burial will follow mass in Riverside Cemetery, Nekoosa. Daniel was born April 9, 1939 in Durango, Mexico to the late Ruben and Ermelinda (Herrera) Diaz. He married Ofelia Cavada on November 27, 1958. Daniel farmed throughout his life to provide for his family. As a testament to his character, Daniel was involved in a serious mining accident when he was 23 years old which left his debilitated for the rest of his life. This never stifled his spirit; he will be remembered for always being happy and jolly, living each day to its fullest. Daniel is the proud father of 10 children, grandfather to 26 grandchildren and great- grandfather to 5, all who he was devoted to. Being a good father and family man was his highest calling. Daniel is survived by his loving wife, Ofelia; children, Ruben (Telma) Diaz, Eladia (Gabino) Aguilera, Elodia (Eliodoro) Aguilera, Adrian (Maricela) Diaz, Gonzalo (Susana) Diaz-Perez, Maria (Javier) Cavada, Audelia (George) Parsons-Quinonez, Armando (Carmen) Diaz, Arturo (Azucena) Diaz and Alonzo (Leticia) Diaz; 26, grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; 3 sisters; 4 brothers and many extended family and friends. He is preceded in death by his brother, Clemente Diaz.
