Obituary of Arthur Godin

Arthur Louis Godin, 97, of Wisconsin Rapids, died Saturday morning, November 3, 2012 at Arborwood Lodge in Wisconsin Rapids. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 6th at the Moravian Church in Wisconsin Rapids. Rev. Mary Lou Plummer will officiate. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services on Tuesday at the church. Art was born June 16, 1915 in Port Edwards to Paul and Marion (Johnson) Godin. He married Mildred Moss on July 23, 1938 in Wisconsin Rapids. She died January 31, 1995. Art worked for Consolidated Papers Inc. for 44 years and retired in May 1978 as a machine tender on No. 11 paper machine. Art loved to fish and hunt and loved flowers and gardening. He was very active with Wisconsin Rapids senior citizens and went to the senior center where he had lunch, made many friends, and played pool with the fellows every Tuesday. Art was a longtime member of the Moravian Church in Wisconsin Rapids where he served as usher for 26 years. He was also a member of the First Star Bank Club and the New Horizons Club of River Cities Bank and enjoyed many travel opportunities the club had to offer. He is survived by his companion, Stella Polcyn and special friend Lois Ver Voort of Wisconsin Rapids and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Mildred, two brothers, Donald and John, and three sisters, Lounais, Cathrine, and Bergetta. Art?s family and friends would like to thank the staff of Arborwood Lodge and Ministry Home Care Hospice for the exceptional care they gave him.
