Obituary of Carl Burgeson

Carl Alfred Burgeson, 81, of Wisconsin Rapids, died Thursday, November 8, 2012 at his home. Services will be at 11:00 am on Tuesday, November 13th at St. Luke?s Lutheran Church. Rev. Thomas Graves will officiate. Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 pm on Monday, November 12th at Herman-Taylor Funeral Home and Cremation Center and from 10:00 am on Tuesday until the time of the service at the church. Carl was born in Muskegon, Michigan on June 15, 1931 to Carl and Lila (Graves) Burgeson. He married his high school sweetheart, Donna Millner, on December 16, 1952 in Rudolph. The couple was blessed with nearly 60 years of marriage. Carl was employed by Consolidated Papers Inc. in maintenance at the Biron division from 1950 until his retirement in 1989. Carl graduated from Rudolph High School in 1950. While in high school, he enjoyed playing on the high shool basketball team. After graduation, he coached adult basketball league and Little League baseball. He served his country in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War from 1951 to 1953. Carl was a happy person who enjoyed his life to the fullest. He was a longtime member of St. Luke?s Lutheran Church and served on the Biron Village Board. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing, and had a special love for bear hunting. He was a long standing member and board member of the Wisconsin Bear Hunters Association, winning their Man of The Year Award. He also was the Biron Bear Club President for 40 years. Carl also really enjoyed golfing and weekly card games with the guys. Survivors include his wife, Donna; one son, Richard Burgeson of Eagan, MN; one daughter, Patricia (Nick) Schmal of Germantown, WI; grandchildren: Nicholas and Corey Schmal of Oakcreek, WI; and one sister, Karleen (Joe) Raubal of Wisconsin Rapids. He was preceded in death by his parents and beloved granddaughter, Tara. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the pastors of St. Luke?s Lutheran Church for all of their prayers and visits and their loving concern for Carl.
