David K. Brown, 64, Wisconsin Rapids, died Tuesday, November 20, 2012 at Ministry Saint Joseph?s Hospital in Marshfield. Services will be at 11:00 AM on Saturday, November 24th at St. Paul?s Ev. Lutheran Church Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin. Rev. James Douglas will officiate. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 PM on Friday, November 23rd at Herman-Taylor Funeral Home and from 10:00 AM until the time of the service at 11:00 AM on Saturday at the church. David was born on September 25, 1948, in Lincoln, Nebraska, to Harvey and Ardith (Troester) Brown. Before he reached the age of eight, the Lord called home his great-grandfather, grandfather, and father. This laid a foundation for a closer walk with the Lord at a very early age. Five years later, Dave?s mother remarried, and once again he had a Christian father. Dave graduated from Christ Lutheran School in Grand Island, Nebraska, in 1966 from Northwestern Lutheran Academy, Mobridge South Dakota; and in 1970 from Dr. Martin Luther College, New Ulm, Minnesota. He also received his master?s degree in history from UW-Oshkosh in May, 1989. He taught at St. Peter?s Lutheran School in Weyauwega, Wisconsin from 1970 to 1987 and St. Paul?s Lutheran School in Wisconsin Rapids from 1987 to the present. During his teaching career, he also served as principal, coached basketball, taught youth group, served as a school visitor for grade school and high school, and directed the church and youth choirs where he had the opportunity to write some of his own choral music. An important hobby for him was working on the history of his family tree. He married Carol nee Buege on June 21, 1975, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and they were blessed with three children. Survivors include his wife, Carol; daughter, Kristi (Garth) Perry and Mark Brown, both of Wisconsin Rapids; Scott (Katie) Brown of Norfolk, Nebraska; three grandchildren, Brianna Perry, and Micah and Caleb Brown; step-father, Ed Kokes of Grand Island, Nebraska; one brother, Dennis Brown of Eagan, Minnesota; one sister, Charlotte Kluever of Union, Iowa; one step-brother, Dale Kokes of Pekin, Illinois; one step-sister, Susan Tischner of Wasilla, Alaska; one sister-in-law, Mary Buege of Greenville, Wisconsin; several nieces and nephews, and other relatives and friends. Dave was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law, Thomas Buege. In his wisdom our Father in heaven has called home his faithful servant. Through his 42 years of teaching, Dave has been a spiritual blessing to well over 600 students. He will be missed by many, but we look forward to our heavenly reunion.
