Obituary of William te Kampe
William te Kampe, 92, of Vesper, died Tuesday, December 4, 2012 at his residence.
Services will be at 11:30 am on Saturday, December 8th at Trinity Lutheran Church in Vesper. Rev. Douglas Schalow will officiate. Burial will be in Faith Reformed Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:30 am until the time of the service at the church on Saturday.
William was born in Vesper, Wisconsin on June 5, 1920 to Gerrit and Mina (Gerritsen) te Kampe. He married Yvonne Thistle on April 23, 1949 in Appleton, WI. The couple was blessed with 63 years of marriage and five daughters.
William served his country stateside as a flight instructor in the Air Force during World War II.
He was self employed as a second generation blacksmith and owned and operated a gravel pit. William was known for his positive attitude, quick wit and good sense of humor. William was a ?Mr. Fix-it?, as he could repair and fix anything.
His greatest joy was teasing his girls. His love for music led him to play guitar in the ?Night Hawks? band. In their younger years he and Yvonne enjoyed square dancing and polka dancing at the Sherryland Ballroom. In his spare time William enjoyed horseback riding, deer hunting, reading, and watching westerns, especially Quigly Down Under.
Survivors include his wife, Yvonne; five daughters: Beth (Pat) Mariani, Linda (Mike) Jewson, Ann (John) Wertti, Jane (Paul) Pitt, and Sara (Tim) Miller; grandchildren: Mark (Lisa) Mariani, Marsha (Dave) Lamb, Megan Mariani (Billy O?Keefe), Micah Mariani, Tobi (Nick) Nowakowski, Andrea (Matt) Cowsert, Ben (Lara) Jewson, Eli Swan (April Husslein), Christine Wertti, Missy Rahal, Theresa (Harry) Porter; great-grandchildren: Zach and Kyle Mariani, Garrett and Caitlin Lamb, Sierra Mariani, Cora and Cole Nowakowski, Jake, Sarah, and Katie Cowsert, Tayler and Ben Jr. Jewson, Hannah, Alex, Ben, and Sydney Rahal, Kyla ,Emma, and Sarah Porter, sister, Anne Carpenter; many extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, mother, sisters, Minnie, Jennie, Rich and Berdina and brother, Hank.
Herman-Taylor Funeral Home and Cremation Center is assisting the family with arrangements.
