Obituary of Russell Fluno
Russell Charles Fluno, 77, of Wisconsin Rapids, passed away Saturday morning, December 15, 2012 at Riverview Hospital in Wisconsin Rapids.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, December 19th at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Wisconsin Rapids. Rev. John Grohs will officiate. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Tuesday at Herman-Taylor Funeral Home and from 10:00 AM until the time of services on Wednesday at the church.
Russell was born January 20, 1935 in Wisconsin Rapids to Kenneth and Laura (Knuth) Fluno. He attended Immanuel Lutheran School and graduated from Lincoln High School in Wisconsin Rapids. On December 3, 1960 he was united in marriage to Caroline Rotar. The couple was blessed with thrity six years of marriage and four children. Caroline passed away on September 6, 1996. Russell met Dolores ?Dee? Ely in 1996 and the two of them were united in marriage on December 27, 1997. Dee and Russ were blessed with fourteen years of marriage together.
Russell worked in the finishing room at Nekoosa-Edwards Paper Company in the Port Edwards mill from 1953 until his retirement in 1995.
Russell was a faithful member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and was instrumental in passing on the faith to his children. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who showed that unconditional love in the way he took care of his wife, Caroline and his father, Kenneth through their health struggles. He not only cared for his own family, but opened up his home to several foster children over the years. Russell was a very active volunteer for the Association for All Handicap Citizens (AAHC) and was a Cub Scout leader. He served as an officer for AAL, now known as Thrivent. He enjoyed painting, shopping, ceramics, and time with family camping and traveling.
Russell is survived by his wife, Dee Fluno; children: Debra (Dean) Schoenick, Dale Fluno, Bev (Dan) Fink, and Shay (Rev. Bryan) Lundquist; grandchildren: Jason (Amanda) Schoenick, Stephanie (Rusty Roe) Schoenick, Justin (Anne Bird) Fink, Jacob Fink, Cole Fluno, Anastasia Lundquist and Andrew Lundquist; step-children: Anthony (Jodi) Lomma, Berni (Dave) Carolfi, Natalie (Jerry) Peters, Michele (Jeff) Wiberg, Mary Jo Lomma and eleven step-grandchildren. Russell is also survived by a brother-in-law, Ronald (Donna) Rotar and sister-in-law, Diane (Carl) Kunze. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Caroline, and step-grandson, Jacob Peters.
Memorials may be designated to Immanuel Lutheran Church and School.
