Obituary of David Gilbertson
David Lee Gilbertson, 57, Town of Grant, died Wednesday, December 26, 2012 after courageously battling complications of cancer.
Services will be at 1:00 PM on Saturday, December 29, at Saint Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Wisconsin Rapids. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until the time of services at the church on Saturday.
David was born February 15, 1955 in Wisconsin Rapids to Claire and Gwendolyn ?Dottie? (Schreiber) Gilbertson. He attended Saint Vincent grade school and graduated from Lincoln High School before going on to Mid-State Technical College and graduating from the auto body program. David married Jacquelyn Lee on January 7, 1993 at Saint Lawrence Catholic Church in Wisconsin Rapids. Early on, David worked for O?Day?s, then the Chevy garage and Bogaard and Karl before owning and operating his own business, Gilby?s Paint and Collision Repair.
David was a good, down to earth man who was always willing to drop whatever he was doing to help friends or family when needed. He was a great husband and father, always supportive, forgiving and understanding. David?s heart was that of an outdoorsman with a true passion and respect for the wildlife. He loved to be out hunting, spending time with wildlife, watching the deer and other animals, fishing with friends and family, hiking through the woods around his home and spending time at his cabin in the UP of Michigan. David also an avid NASCAR fan both on and off the track.
Survivors include his beloved wife, Jacquie; son, Ryan (Tiffany) Gilbertson of Appleton; brother, Russell (Kris) Gilbertson of Wisconsin Rapids; sister-in-law, Nancy (David) Peterson of Arpin; step-father, Jim Biot of Wisconsin Rapids; mother-in-law, Peggy Lee of Wisconsin Rapids; nieces and nephews, Jay (Katie) Gilbertson of Wisconsin Rapids, Chad (Lisa) Gilbertson of Wisconsin Rapids, Christopher Gilbertson of Houghton, MI, Nathaniel (Shawna) Gilbertson of Evergreen, CO and Elisa Gilbertson of Dallas, TX; special friend and neighbor, Marge Johnson; and extended family and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Claire and Gwendolyn ?Dottie? Gilbertson; and brothers, Francis ?Butch? and Claire ?Ron? Gilberston.
