Obituary of Alvin Broehm

Alvin Kenneth Broehm, 81, Wisconsin Rapids, died early Wednesday morning, January 23, 2013 at The Renaissance, Wisconsin Rapids. Services will be at 2:00 pm on Saturday, January 26th at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Wisconsin Rapids. Rev. Paul Tullberg will officiate. Military rites will be provided by American Legion Post 442. Visitation will be from 12:00 noon until the time of services on Saturday at the church. Alvin was born in Grand Chute, Wisconsin on December 25, 1931 to Alvin and Caroline (Treichel) Broehm. He married Arlene Tank on July 28, 1956 at Jerusalem Lutheran Church in Milwaukee, WI. He served his country in the United States Army stateside during the Korean War, from 1954-1956. Alvin was employed by the Waukesha, WI public school system as a Social Studies teacher for 35 years. After his retirement he moved to Lake Camelot (town of Rome), Wisconsin. He was very active in church activities. He served on the board of elders for Trinity Lutheran Church in Waukesha, WI and taught vacation Bible school at St. Paul?s church in Wisconsin Rapids. Alvin?s passion was his family, children and grandchildren. He loved them very much and they all loved him dearly. He was a sports fan who especially enjoyed watching the Packers. He also enjoyed bowling, camping, fishing, and playing cards. Survivors include his wife, Arlene; children: Karolyn Broehm, Kevin (Theresa) Broehm, Kathryn Broehm, Kristopher (Holly) Broehm, Karl (Aew) Broehm, and Koreen (Dan) Dykas; 18 grandchildren: Aly McClain, Kasi McClain, Ariel McClain, Donovan McClain, Mark Broehm, Jessica Englehart, Alicia Broehm, Deven (Sami) Adams, Derek Adams, Kahlea Adams, Daelen Adams, Raquel Broehm, Bhawramaett Broehm, Sean Bonow, Rachael Bonow, Sarah Bonow, Trever Broehm, and Gavin Broehm; four great-grandchildren: Kaylee Broehm, Christiana Broehm, Jadon Broehm, and Anthony Broehm; sister-in-law: Marilyn Tank; brother-in-law: Donald (Jan) Tank; niece: Angela (Jeremy) Wang; and grand-niece: Lucy Jo Wang. He was preceded in death by one grandchild, Luke and sister, Deloris (Charles) Schmahl. Herman-Taylor Funeral Home and Cremation Center is assisting the family with arrangements. The family wishes to extend a thank you to all the hospice aides and nurses who cared for Alvin, with special thanks to Carrie and Roberta. They also extend their gratitude to neighbors, Darlene, Jim, Norm and Jan for all their help and support.
