Richard and Selma were blessed with a gift from heaven as Michael filled our hearts and home with joy and happiness. Michael was truly loved by his parents, sister and brother all through his journey of life. He was placed at Central Center in Madison for 18 years until he was moved to Wisconsin Rapids where he could be closer to his family. Michael truly loved and enjoyed being with his family and friends. Daniel and Jeri Ashbeck have had the privilege of loving and caring for Michael for 28 years along with many caregivers. Aaron Fellenz was his long time roommate and friend. He graduated from Lincoln High School with an Individualized Education Program degree. Michael was the Supported Employment pioneer in the Wisconsin Rapids school system and worked at Copps for over 15 years stocking the yogurt and doing other duties. Until his passing, Michael loved working at ODC performing a vast variety of jobs and meaningful work and looked forward to going to work every day. He had so many friends there who worked with him and were by his side daily. You were all such an important part of his life! Michael loved music all his life with his earliest memories of his dad singing and playing his guitar for him. He also enjoyed the City Band Concerts and One Way Café. Michael is survived by his parents Richard and Selma Getsinger, his sister Tanya, and brother Tim (Tammy). He was loved by his niece Vicki and nephew Gavin, and will be especially missed by his nephews Marcus and Kellen. Michael was preceded in death by his grandparents, and many uncles and aunts. The family wishes to thank Dr. Scott Ghinazzi and Dr. Lisa Olson at the Doctor's Clinic, the staff at the Aspirus Hospital Emergency Room, and Dr. Garde and the caring nurses and staff in CCU. To God be the glory for blessing Michael with a rich life filled with His love, grace, and goodness; and loving family and friends.
