Obituary of Joan Marco
Joan B. Marco, 82, of Wisconsin Rapids, died Monday, January 28, 2013 at Riverview Medical Center surrounded by her family.
Services will be at 12:00 Noon on Friday, February 1st at Herman-Taylor Funeral Home and Cremation Center. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services on Friday.
Joan was born in Wisconsin Rapids on August 5, 1930 to Emory and Matilda (Hamm) Provost. She married George Marco, Jr. on April 4, 1947 in Wautoma. They went on to enjoy 64 years together. He died on March 28, 2011.
Joan and her husband owned and operated George?s Sunrise Bar for 20 years. Joan was very involved in the business. She also enjoyed camping, gardening, spending time at their cabin and time with her family and friends. She also was talented with many forms of arts and crafts. In her younger years she was a skilled dressmaker and more recently designed and completed many items that were crocheted. She was especially known for her afghans. After selling the business, Joan enjoyed many years in the home they designed and built in the Kellner area.
Joan is survived by her daughter: Ronda (Richard) Kopelke, Wisconsin Rapids; two grandsons: Lance Kopelke, Stevens Point; and Kerry Kopelke, Madison, WI; two brothers: Tom (Thea) Provost and Jerry Provost; nieces and nephews: Jeff (Connie) Provost; Scott (Denise) Provost; Randy Provost, all of Kellner; Mark Provost, Wisconsin Rapids; Kelly (Steve) Schultz, Minnesota; Sy (Melissa) Miller, Ohio; Shelly (Greg) Martin, Sheboygan Falls, WI; and several great nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her companion, Holly. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, George, and one brother, Richard (Mary) Provost.
Joan?s family would like to thank Dr. Teter and the staff of Riverview Medical Center emergency room, and Dr. Douglas Redding and other oncology staff of Marshfield Clinic for their exceptional care for Joan.
